Characteristics of good research topic
A good research topic must have a fundamental characteristic. The topic should
be interesting. Working with an interesting topic help researcher stay motivated.
It must be researchable and significant enough to contribute in some way to the
improvement. A characteristic of a good topic is that it is always ethical.
Researchable Topic:
A research topic is an issue in need of proper investigation so it should follow that
a basic characteristic of the research topic is that it is researchable. A topic that is
researchable can be investigated by collecting and analyzing data. Problems
dealing with philosophical and ethical issues cannot research through analyzing
data (e.g., ‘should birth control be regulated by the government in Islam’).
Research cannot resolve such issues but can tell how people feel about it. Topics
or questions should not contain the word ‘should ‘because that research paper
cannot be answerable but becomes ultimately a matter of opinion.
Significant Topic:
A research topic has its theoretical or practical significance. The study should
contribute in some ways to the improvement or understanding of educational
theory or practice. The topic will provide benefits to the field in which you are
conducting the study.
Clarity and Well-Defined Topic:
Good research paper topics are specific. We shouldn't choose a topic that is too
broad and could focus on many different aspects. The clarity in the research topic
is the most important quality of any research topic. The topic should have to be

simply understandable so that readers can easily understand your research. The
research topic should not be on too many aspects that people get distracted. The
topic should have to be clear in your mind so that you can properly undertake it.
The research topic should not have to be ambiguous. Clarity also means that the
research topic should have to be directional and it should set the whole research
methodology.
The language of the research topic should not have to be very difficult. You should
use difficult terms only when it is needed, otherwise use simple words so that
others can understand it. Do not introduce any sort of partiality directly or
indirectly, in the research topic. The research topic should have to be well-defined
and well-written and the reader should be able to understand easily. It should
have a single meaning.
Manageable topic:
A good research topic is always fit for the skills of its researcher. The topic should
be suited and according to the person, the current level of research skill. If a
person chooses something out of his hand, it will be hard and turn into a terrible
experience.
Ethics:
A characteristic of a good topic is that it is ethical. The research should follow the
proper ethics of research and does not harm its participants physically and
emotionally. They should always speak truth to their participants. In past some of
researcher violated ethics and harm their participants. A purpose of research is
most of the time is for the humans. So if they harm humans then the essence of
research is lost.
