Question 1. While testing a new boat, an accelerometer attached to the boat provides the record
as shown in Figure 1. If the boat has velocity of 5 m/s at t=0 and is at rest at time t2 , determine:
a) The time t 2 .
b) The maximum velocity of boat.
c) The distance through which the boat moves before coming to rest.

Question 2. Two planes A and B are flying side by side at a constant speed of 900 km/h as
shown in Figure 2. Maintaining this speed, plane A begins to travel along a path whose
expression is r = (750)θ 2 km, where θ is in radians, whereas plane B continuous to fly in a
straight line. Determine the speed (magnitude and angle) of plane A with respect to plane B
when r=500 km.
Note: Some information is given in the figure.

Question 3. Two plates are located on inclined surface with angle of 30 degrees with respect to
horizontal line and are connected to each other through the pulley as shown in Figure 3. . Mass
of A is 10 kg and B is 5 kg. A force of 100 N is applied on plate A. If the coefficient of friction is
0.25 for all surfaces of contact, determine:
a) The acceleration of plate A.
b) The tension in the cable.
