Course Description
Biology 201. Principles of Biology. 2 hours lecture, 1 hour recitation, 3
hours laboratory; 4 cr. The course studies the biology of organisms, the
structure and function of plant and animal organ systems, plant and animal
phylogeny; ecology and evolution.

The text book is the same resource required for the lecture. The access card for the
cases is required and must be purchased to submit case study assignments.Please
read each lab exercise BEFORE arriving to class!
Performance
Evaluation
Your performance in the lab section of the course will be evaluated from lab exercises
(40%), a mid-term exam (15%) an independent project (20%) and an in class final
(25%). To receive credit for lab exercises, you must attend lab and turn in answers to
lab questions before leaving. The lowest two lab exercises will be dropped. THERE
WILL BE NO MAKEUPS! The lab will contribute 30% to your course grade.
Attendance
Regular attendance in class is necessary to receive credit for lab exercises.
