A Very Simple Ribbed Hat
A very simple ribbed hat made especially for beginners but even the most advanced knitter would love.
Materials:
1 skein worsted weight yarn
16” circular needle US size 8 and double pointed needles same size
Gauge: 5 sts and 7 rows to 1 inch in Stockinette stitch
Abbreviations:
CO = Cast on
K = knit
Dec = decrease
Begging knitting, CO 112 sts and join being careful not to twist.
Rib k1, p1 for 8 inches (2 inches for brim).
Start St st, for two inches then begin dec.
Place markers every 16 sts.
Round 1: K2 tog, k14.
Round 2: K all sts.
Round 3: k2 tog, k13.
Round 4: K all sts.
Continue dec until 14 sts left on needles, k2 tog to end
Cut yarn leaving a long tail to slip stitches through and pull together.
