Finding perseverance in ourselves is one of the toughest things in human life. Especially when it comes to a pitiful life with pathetic people it is inevitable to be despair of your life and future unless you are someone who is resilient enough (and a bit special). According to The American Psychological Association resilience is “the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace and financial stressors, grows through this process”. In the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, the main character Junior goes through different kinds of traumatic experiences as the death of his loved ones, the misery in his reservation and being left alone after his conflict with his best and only friend for 13 years. Nevertheless, Junior never concedes misery or gives himself over these experiences by his perseverance and resilience.
