dominant) and linear (left-brain dominant)
LEARNING COMPETENCY
6.1 discuss that understanding the left and right brain
may help in improving one’s learning
The presented activities or exercises and texts are developed in
order to meet the following objectives:

Two Hemispheres of the Brain
Right Hemispheres
Left Hemispheres

control of the left side of the
body, and is the more artistic
and creative side of the brain
Functions: Responsible for
control of the right side of the
body, and is the more academic
and logical side of the brain

If you would split the brain right down the middle into two symmetrical or
equal parts, you would have a right and left hemisphere. Although equal in
size, these two sides are not the same, and do not carry out the same
functions.
The left side of the brain is responsible for controlling the right side of the body.
It also performs tasks that have to do with logic, such as in science
and mathematics. On the other hand, the right hemisphere coordinates the left
side of the body, and performs tasks that have do with creativity and the arts.
Both hemispheres are connected by the corpus callosum and serve the body in
different ways.
LET’S SEE WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED
Identify which side of the brain and function is being referred to each situation
below. Explain your answer.
1.Justin was awarded as best debater in his Politics and Governance class.
2. Marta received an award as best oral presenter during the research
colloquium last month.
3. Andrew is very good in preparing Balance Sheet in his Accounting class.
4. Liza can easily compose a song even in a short period of time.
5. Peter is good at forecasting a situation that is going to happen.
6. Maria won the Poster Making Contest during the School Foundation Day.

Mind Mapping Techniques
Mind mapping techniques give us an effective way to improve our study and
memory skills. Mind Mapping, one of the best method to capture your thoughts
and bring them to life in visual form, is definitely a powerful graphic technique
to enhance human performance, which provides a universal key to unleash
your brain's creativity and potential in a uniquely powerful manner.
A mind map can be used in every aspect of life where improve learning and
clearer thinking. This guide will cover two types of mind mapping techniques:
 Mind Mapping Memory Technique
 Mind Mapping Study Technique

Text
As many scientists said, you can remember things you have forgotten with the
correct trigger. All you need is a good memory technique. A mind map is such a
simple memory-improving tool that helps you connect ideas to information you
want to remember.
 Memorable images: help to recall someone’s name or a particular word
 Add connections: remember when and why some certain event
happened
 Add relevant symbols: assist to identify specific pieces of content
