What Am I?
1. My winters are cold and summers hot and dry. The vegetation has shallow fibrous roots
and are fire resistant. The animals are quick and agile. Many burrow to escape
predators. My area is prone to wind erosion. What am I?
2. I am a fragile biome. My growing season last only 6 to 8 weeks. Soil and vegetation
recover slowly. Animals in my area usually have short ears and short legs. Tall trees
cannot survive here. You can walk on me only 9 to 10 months of the year. If you do, you
will damage what vegetation I have. What am I?

ground is covered with decaying organic matter. There are a variety of different types of
us living together and once a year we look like a painted picture of colors. I am home to

My shape allows me to shed heavy loads and I do not cast much of a shadow. Because
