Plant based insecticides have been used for generations in traditional practices as natural
insecticide and protection for the agricultural product. Knowledge on traditional insecticides
plants obtained through ETH no botanical studies is a valuable resource for the development of
new natural product.
This research was conceptualized to study the efficacy of Ficus nota as a bio-active component
in an organic agro-crop insecticide. The bio-active insecticide are prepared by the researchers
and its members using organic products that were well research. This is very usual and
trustworthy practices by the students. The study was conducted overwhelming the period of two
months started from October 8 to December 8 from concentrating containers. Bio-active
Insecticides are always environmental friendly, safe, low cost or free of cost locally available
resources utilization system through engaging research labor.
The common understanding on homemade bio-active insecticide and organic pest management
was very positive. Recently, commercial insecticides product contains Kant based ingredients
have gained increasing popularity among local farmers, as these are commonly perceived as
"safe" in comparison to long established synthetic insecticide although this is sometimes a
misconception.
Ficus nota fruit extract and water are used for the preparation of organic insecticide, this were
tested on a specific pest which is aphids but lack of appropriate formulation, pest specific
application, time of application, frequency study on efficacy of bio-active insecticide were
lacking from science and statistic back. Further research study could be helpful in safe use of it
and increase the efficacy rate and could be ensured wider acceptance in the organic farming
practices.
