Topic – Study on ways to minimize Honeycombs in concrete construction
1. Cast six beams of 600mm x 250mm x 150 mm to detect Honeycombs. For three beams only
provide reinforcements (4T12 main bars and T8 bars for stirrups) and others casting without
rebars with Grade 30 concrete.
2. Man-made Honeycombs will provide at mid span at depth of 100mm, 150mm and 250mm.

3. Using Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) equipment, detect the location of Honeycomb of each
six beams.
4. By using rubber mallet, take the vibration measurements to detect the Honeycomb.
