Name: Justin Lin ENG3U Date: 2020-11-06 Ms. Antonio Poem Analysis 1. What does the title mean? Take a look at the title and reflect on what it means: In my opinion I believe the title means, in human whole life we will have a lot of different choices in different periods. Every single choice no matter big or small will affect your “road”- life timeline. 2. Put it in your own words. Read the poem two or three times. You will see something different each time you read the poem. Write a brief summary of the poem in your own words. Highlight or list some of the words (nouns, verbs, phrases) that are important to understanding the poem. The poem is describing, the writer is at a fork road in the forest with all yellow leafs around it. The writer is very regretful that he can not choose both of the roads, therefore he is sitting at the fork road for a long time. Afterward the writer is trying to lonk down and find the end of the road, but he can’t see anything. The writer wink on the other road, thinking it to be just as good a choice as the first, the road since there are more people walking on it. Now the writer walked on the second road. He thinks that in reality the two roads are the same; they both have equally people walking. The writer said again that both roads are still covered by yellow leaf, and did not change by peoples footprint. The writer thinks that he can save the first road for next time, but right away he realizes that in life you only can choose one time you can't go back and do it again, so he has no chance to go back to the fork and choose the first road. The writer is thinking about his distant future. He talked about how he chose the road. The writer is looking back on his life from the future. The writer chose the road that less people have walked that will make his life change. 3. What do you think the poem means? Now think about the meaning of the poem, not just the obvious meaning of each word but what they mean beyond the literal. Do these words suggest something else? In the first verse of the poem, the writer is trying to use an example to show people what is a choice, so in this verse the words that he is suggesting are those words that can bring the reader into the example theme. Second verse is talking about the theme of the road as a suggestion of a life choice: there are two roads both have people walk to the end and succeed, so which one is the right one, the answer will be an unknown question. In the third verse of the poem, the writer is trying to get to the main point of his poem, the point he is trying to say is that in real life people are not able to choose twice, one shoot for every choice and every choice will make your lifeline totally different. The last verse are suggesting he is in the future and thinking about what he will choice in that time if he can go back if there is a possibility, he said he will choice road that less people walked, I think in this verse you can see the different that when people in a different time you will see different things in a different level that is why life is a fun story everyone will because of choice having a different lifeline. 4. How does the theme convey the poem’s message? The central idea of the poem is to let people know how important is every choice in your life don't need to choose from whatever other people tell you to choose from your heart and think hard. In life you don't have a second shot to choose again you will start a new timeline from the choice you choose. Therefore every single choice is a fork of your life just like what the poem says in the first stanza: don't look back because you will never go back again, look forward and just walk whatever road you think is right. 7. Anything else that you would like to include? Additional interpretation, theme or information. Your opinion about the situations and reactions? Do you think this is real and could happen at present time? The poem is a strongly Infectious theme because this poem can target all readers that will make a choice of something important. Obviously the entire world and humans in their life all have different kinds of things that they need to choose. Just like me for example I'm going to choose which university I'm going to study at, this is a huge decision of my life, when I read the poem it actually gives me a very good theme of infections to the “ road” that bring me into the situation. Make me think it is very deep and clear. So this poem is absolutely real and could happen in the present time.
