Course Description
This course provides experience in word processing using industry standard software. Applications include the
preparation of business documents using advanced word processing features. Concepts, capabilities, procedures,
and legal responsibilities of word and information processing are applied. Simulated and real projects may be
used for problem solving and business document preparation.
Materials Used
Shelly, Cashman Series (2010). Microsoft Office 2010 Introductory Concepts. Thomson.

Grading
Final grade will be tabulated by adding up the total points received divided by the total points possible.
Percentage grades as follows:
90-100
80-89
70-79
60-69

*Courses with grades of less than a “C” will not count toward a certificate or be eligible for dual credit.
Procedures for Makeup Work/Tests
Regular attendance and participation is required. Any work missed is the responsibility of the student. Students
shall be granted the number of days missed plus one (1) to make up any work missed for an excused absence.

Supplies
Students are required to bring pen/pencil and paper. A notebook is required for bellwork.
Class expectations/Rules








Show respect to instructor and fellow students at all times.
Students who desire to use the Internet must read and sign an Internet Acceptable Use Policy.
Do not use email during instructional time.
No games may be played on computers.
Students MUST ask permission before using the printer.
Daily clean up of “office area” is required.
Practice safe work habits at all times.
NO food or drink allowed in classroom.
