10th Grade Greek/Latin Roots Expectations (List) Vocabulary Expectations Students will be assigned root words throughout the year and be given opportunities to explore words in various ways. Be sure that you’re simply not memorizing root words, but learning as well as exploring at least three other new words based from said root word assigned. You will need to keep a Vocabulary Root Word Journal to keep all of the lists together. Work must be handwritten! How will I be assessed: ❏ ❏ ❏ ❏ Student will earn points (20) in conjunction with their quizzes. Student will typically be assessed on two week intervals [80 quiz points possible + 20 vocabulary points = 100 pts total] This homework is all or nothing. Completed in full, or student will not earn the 20 points in conjunction with their quiz. Typically 10 roots + 3 definitions + 3 example sentence (see below). How to complete work: ★ Step 1: Students will be assigned multiple root words for an allotted amount of time. Student will be assigned words based on what’s called a “set” list 1-16 (tbd) ★ Step 2: Use the graphic organizer as a guide for breaking down the root into several parts.
