American professors sent to India PL480 funds – to start a council on Social Work education with this funding from American council for Social Work education. Social Work as a Profession 1950 – First international UN Survey of Social Work education 1955 –Second international UN Survey of Social Work education 1958 - Third international UN Survey of Social Work education 1960 –University Grants Commission (UGC) -First Review Committee for Social Work education 1965 - Fourth international UN Survey of Social Work Education 1975 - UGC - Second Review Committee for Social Work education. 1975 – Fifth international UN Survey of Social Work education 2001 – Third review Committee for Social Work Education All the above initiatives were to establish the National Council for Social Work education in India.
