It was heavily influenced by Microsoft’s own DOS and was the first release of windows and featured a graphical user interface. Microsoft, the creator and owner of windows has gone through many changes to the operating system and has produced the most current version of windows which is windows 10. According to Nat Levy at geekwire.com he says “The latest figures show how dominant Windows remains in the PC arena, with a market share of roughly 88 percent. Apple is the next closest competitor with a market share of just under 10 percent” (para. 1) Microsoft dominates the traditional PC market with an almost monopolistic presence. This is for good reason though as modern versions of windows are very flexible and can run on a plethora of different hardware configurations. Windows provides users a powerful environment to do anything from leisure like gaming and watching movies to productivity and almost anything in between. 3 References Levy, N. (2019, September 03).
