Dear Students,
As a final project for your book study, you will write a letter to one of the main characters
of the novel. Please write to the character that you find most interesting. You do not have to
choose the protagonist. In your letter, ask the character questions, explain why you selected
him/her as your favorite character, and describe what you learned from this character. Support
your opinion with examples and details from the story. Your text evidence should be in the form
of a quote from the story with the page number the quote can be found on.
Use the basic parts of a friendly letter. This assignment sheet should help you see what
your letter will need to look like. You will need to make sure that your letter is formatted
correctly. Please also type your letter in 12 pt. Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri font. Your
letter should be double spaced, and each paragraph should be indented. You can find mor
information on format in the writing topic OnCampus and in the writing tab in OneNote. You
may choose to use your own address on the letter, or you may use Hockaday’s address. You
must sign the letter with your own name in cursive.
Your friendly letter should be five paragraphs long. When writing you paragraphs, make
good choices regarding length. As a sixth-grader, paragraphs shorter than five sentences are not
appropriate. Typically, a paragraph should be 5-8 sentences long.
Sincerely,
