Brief Note on Sri B. Muthyalu Mica and Calcite Mine EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Sri B. Muthyalu, S/o of Sri B. Veerabhadrudu, a resident of Sivalingapuram Village, obtained mining lease for mining Mica and Calcite, over an extent of 4.21 hectares in Sy. Nos, 1/9, 1/10 & 2 of Visakhapatnam District Thumburthy Village, Ananthagiri Mandal, for a period of 20 years from 2006 to 2026, by Asst. Director, Mines & Geology, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, vide proc. No: 246/M/2005 Dated 31.05.2006.……………………………………………………………… Copy of the Order is enclosed at Annexure I As Mica deposits were not proven, the mining plan for extracting Calcite for the first five years i.e., from 2006 to 2011 was submitted & approved by Regional Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines, Hyderabad on 17/01/2006, vide Lr. No. AP/VSK/MP/MICA-CAL-2/Hyd. Copy of the Approval of Mine Plan is furnished at Annexure II The mining operations were commenced in 2006 and only Calcite was extracted up to 2012 to a tune of 3353 Tons. No mica was found in the mine and hence development plan was made only for Calcite Due to non-submission of returns for the year 2011-12, the Regional Controller of Mines, IBM, Hyderabad, issued orders suspending the mining operations vide Lr No. AP/10(39)/VSK/2011/HYD dt 01/01/2013. Copy of the order is furnished as Annexure III The suspension orders were revoked on submission of the relevant returns, vide order No. AP/VSK/Cal&Mica-7/Hyd dt 27th Jan, 2015. Copy of the order furnished as Annexure IV The mining plan along with the mine closure plan prepared for the period 2011-12 to 2015-16 was submitted to Assistant Director of Mines & Geology, Visakhapatnam, on 09/12/2014. The approval of mining plan is under process As per the EIA Notification dated 14th Sep, 2006 and as amended till date, the project falls under Category “B2” with less than 5 hectares. As per the Supreme 1 Court directions and subsequent circular from MOEF, now this mine requires Environmental Clearance from State Environmental Impact Assessment Appraisal Authority, Andhra Pradesh, under Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Govt. of India. Hence the application for environmental clearance in the prescribed format Form-I duly filled in, along with the EMP and the mine plan for the years 2011 to 2016 are submitted to SEIAAA, Andhra Pradesh.
