Nothing can he Jone without L hope amfcoificfence. ”—He[en Keffer Sometimes, it's hard to be happy when you think about what's going on around you. It's harder still when the people in close proximity constantly complain about different problems they are facing and paint a bleak world. But, does that mean that you should also join ranks with the pessimists? No, more difficult the time, more are the reasons to look on the bright side as much as possible. Choosing to be optimistic offers surprising benefits. A study from the University of Pittsburgh (US) concluded that people who had an optimistic outlook had a 30% lower risk of heart disease. Research published in the Canadian Medical Association journa/found that optimists are less likely to experience disabilities as they get older and end up living longer than pessimists. OPTIMISM IS A CHOICE If you think you're a natural pessimist and there’s no way you can turn your mindset around, think again. A research published in the journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry compared two groups of people to test their thinking patterns. The first group completed a 5-minute exercise that involved thinking positive thoughts about their future, while the second group just went about their daily lives without making any effort to think optimistically. The first group significantly increased their optimism over the two-week period, with many of them feeling more optimistic afterjust one day. If you wish to become a more optimistic person—despite the negativity surrounding you—then you have to take measures to think positively and spread that optimistic outlook to those around you. It is immensely beneficial. CHANGE YOUR THINKING You always have choices in your life. You can spend the day cleaning, reading or spend the whole day sleeping. You can go out to dinner with friends or cook at home. You can have coffee with your friends or you can sit together and talk aboutold days. And, finally, you can deciole to be positive or you can just go on living like you are. Being an optimistic person in a negative world begins with the decision to be positive and choosing to live that life every single day. AVOID NEGATIVITY, ALWAYS You can refer to them as ’whiners’ or ‘toxic’, buttruth is pessimists can suckthe positive energy out of the people around. These people think the world revolves around them, and they often lack any sense ofempathyforothers. |t’s important to establish healthy boundaries with people who chronically choose to stay stuck in their own misery and think negatively. That may mean having to say things to a friend like, ”| notice every time I offer you an idea about how you could make situation better, you insist nothing will work. I am not sure I'm ableto help.” It may also mean distancing yourself a bit from someone who spreads negativity or often predicts about the end of the world. Limit meolia intake. Watching too many tragic stories in news or consuming too much political news on social media can decrease your ability to maintain a ’glass halffull’ outlook. Negativity breeds negativity and kills hope. 31TCI mil c131 dceld CB aiiaqat afi 9g8 ! Here's what to do: Spend 20 minutes on four consecutive days on writing down what you want to happen tomorrow, next week, next month and next year—dream big. Consider a serious challenge you have in your life right now and think about possible positive outcomes. PRACTICE GRATITU DE Thinking about all the things you have to be grateful for, from warm sunshine to clean water, can give you an instant AVOID NEGATIVE THOUGHTS Yes, life is never smooth. Some bad things might always happen. Ignoring reality never help. Being realistic could be the key to doing your best. Being optimistic does not mean being blind. If you're excessively positive about any situation and not adequately prepared, you might face an unpleasant outcome. Over confidence is not optimism. But, if you have an exaggeratedly negative outlook, you might sabotage your chances of ever being successful. Thinking, "No, this is not going to work. It's goingto fail.” lfyou think like this, you are already defeated. This lack of confidence may be the reason of yourfailure. A healthy outlook would be to remind yourself that all you can do is your best and you'll be OK, regardless of outcome. Being optimistic helps you believe that Engineers are the force behind the brighter opportunities are ahead and engines of progress. It's difficult to do away with a USB drives these days. Sometimes these are the easiest way to bring a large file to move around. However, this convenient tool can be a security risk too. As per a recent USB Threat Report report from Honeywell, the severity of threats detected to operational technology (OT) systems has risen significantly during last 12-months. The number of threats specifically targeting OT systems nearly doubled from 16% to 28%. The number of threats capable of causing a loss of view or other major disruption have more than doubled, from 26% to 59%. USB removable media is often a necessity, and because ofthat it's security risk too is becoming increasingly high. Attackers can use USB drives to infect other computers with malware that can detect when the USB drive is plugged into a computer. The malware then downloads malicious code onto the drive. When the USB drive is plugged into another computer, the malware infects that computer. Many organizations have policies in place about the use of removable media, but USB is now so ubiquitous that devices will find their way into all kind of environment. A cybersecurity expert cautions, "At a minimum, removable media should be scanned for malware."
