Pythagoras​ (of the Pythagorean Theorem) was a Greek philosopher who lived in the 6th
century B.C. He believed that all nature, beauty, and harmony could be expressed by
whole number relationships. He discovered that all relationships between the notes of a
musical scale could be expressed as ratios.

For any stringed instrument, different notes are
produced by placing your finger on different
parts of the string. (The shorter the string, the
higher the note)
The cello string provided is a C string, and is 24
inches long. Use proportions to determine the
length of the string needed to play each
note. After all are found, we will mark the
cello string!
