Field Trip to High School Work with the high school AVID site coordinator to arrange a “shadow day” for your AVID students. If your high school doesn’t have AVID, consider making arrangements through the National Honor Society or other campus club. Options for the “shadow day” include the following: Partnering a middle school AVID student with a high school student Having high school AVID students lead their partner on a school tour Having partners look through the middle school students’ six-year plan and give advice on any specific classes or teachers Attending a class (AVID or non-AVID) together A group team-building activity Consider having the middle school students and their high school partner become “pen pals.” 2. Guest Speaker* If you aren’t able to arrange a field trip to the high school on this exact day, try to have a representative from the high school (counselor, administrator, AVID coordinator, etc.) come to class as a guest speaker. * Indicates an optional activity, which can be shortened or removed, based on time constraints
