The weather is no longer a great conversation starter. Everyone at every corner of the town meets each other with “Do you know the bad news of Mr. Williams…” and ends the conversation with the sigh “Poor Mrs. Williams and the children!” The Williams moved to the beautiful town five years ago because Mr. Williams’s job changed. Neighbors have a good first impression of this family. Mr. Williams, a law professor, majors in children’s law in a university. He is responsible and gentle. Sometimes he would use his knowledge to help the poor people for free. He is strict and thoughtful on his major. Mr. Williams likes criticizing politics from a different point which sometimes is even antisocial. He thinks it is cool. He remembers all the anniversaries related to his wife, and he would buy his wife a special gift on that day. There is no doubt that he is also a good father. John and Mary adore and love him in the eyes of outsiders. Mrs. Williams is a housewife. She does housework well and takes good care of her family members. She is a quiet and submissive woman. She is always kind and has never quarreled with others. Mrs. Williams prefers to following her husband’s opinions. Family harmony is her greatest achievement. She enjoys the compliments of her family from others. These words are affirmation of her. John and Mary are adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Williams. This kind of behavior also makes people praise them. Mary is sister, who is so reserved that it is hard to understand her. She is a person of few words, unless someone touches her, she would yell very crazily. So that some neighbors think she has a mental problem. But the couple treats Mary as the apple of their eyes. John is twelve years old. He is a loveable, smart and enthusiastic boy. He always has new and great ideas. Everyone in this town likes him. Anyway, the whole family is respected and loved by the people in the town. “What a happy family!” everyone thinks so in Fireberg Town. “Mr. Williams died” which is like an atomic bomb, blows up the family’s iced and peaceful life. Poor Mrs. William! She is the first witness. The policeman received the call and came to investigate. Obviously, Mrs. Williams nearly broke down. When Allen, the police, questioned her about her entire experience as the first witness, she tried to manage her mental state. She was so shocked that her body and voice were trembling. She told the police sadly what she had seen this morning. At 7.30 am, she woke up to make breakfast as usual while she found her husband not around. She thought he was in the toilet, not thinking much. However as walking through the living room, she watched that Mr. Williams was lying on the pool of blood. She was terrified and couldn’t help screaming. The disturbing scream broke the morning, and the children hurried out of the bedroom to see what happened. Mr. Williams fell between the table and the wine cabinet. He faced the wine cabinet. A wine bottle was held in his hand. Certainly, it broke now. An empty wine bottle was on the ground. The back of his bead was all bloody. It dented on the corner of the table. There was a medicine bottle on the table. Mrs. Williams told Allen that her husband had hypertension. So the doctor prescribed blood pressure medication. He takes the medicine every day. The scene was devastating. Allen surveyed the death scene carefully. He judged Mr. Williams died suddenly and unexpectedly. He tried to recreate the death process of Mr. Williams in his mind. The man came out of the bedroom and took medicine to lower blood pressure. Then he wanted to have a drink. After drinking a bottle, he would like to get another one. As he turned back, suddenly he tripped over the empty bottle on the ground. The back of his head crashed into the corner of the table, which caused his death. Combined with the death scene and the family’s reputation in the town, Allen thought there was almost no possibility of homicide. Of course, the specific conclusion would have to wait for a more detailed investigation after the autopsy. Allen told the family that currently it was an accidental death. The police took the body away and hoped that Mrs. Williams and two children are consoled by this time. Mrs. Williams was so sad that she couldn’t say anything. The two children seemed scared and didn’t know what to do. Allen expressed his sorry about Mr. Williams again and told this woman that God would help her to take good care of him. When Allen was about to leave the house, he turned his head and was surprised to see that John was smiling at his father’s body. Back to the police station, every time Allen thought of John’s smile, it gave his goose bumps. Intuitively, he felt that this case might not be simple. In the next few days, Allen was investigating various things about this family. It was confusing that Mr. Williams resigned his previous work which is really good for him and chose to come to this completely unknown town. Why? Allen wanted to figure it out. He went to Mr. William’s previous town where he knew Mr. Williams once gave a 13-year –old girl a large sum of money and Mrs. Williams went to see a psychiatrist at the same time. Sadly, Allen didn’t find the girl who moved to a place where no one knew. Before going to Fireberg, the couple adopted two children. Is this family really as happy as it appears? Then, the policeman went back to Fireberg Town. Meanwhile the autopsy results came out. The direct cause of death was a head blow, but there were aspirin residues in his body. However, according to the previous medical report provided by the family doctor, Mr. Williams is allergic to aspirin. The doctor also said Mrs. Williams asked him to prescribe some medicine including aspirin because of her headache two months ago. Allen decided to investigate again. Mrs. Williams was surprised that Allen visited again. She was very lack of energy, and it didn’t seem that she come out of her sadness. Allen said he wanted to know more things before they moved to the town. Mrs. Williams looked panic and stirred fingers constantly. “Why did Mr. Williams give a 13-year-old girl a lot of money before?” I don’t know, sir.” she said in a quaking voice. “You had seen a psychiatrist during that time, why?” Mrs. Williams is pale as white as a sheet. “because I didn’t sleep well” “Do you know your husband is allergic to aspirin? we found the pill residues in his body, and you had asked the family doctor to give you this pill!” “Yes, I know that. But I asked the pill just for, for my headache. I always sleep not well” she murmured “But on the day of Mr. Williams’s death, you actually slept very well and didn’t hear a bit of sound! Why?” “I, I……” Mrs. Williams couldn’t say a word and cried. “The truth is you killed your husband, right?” “No, no, no …” “So, tell me the truth!” Mrs. Williams could not bear it anymore and fell out of his onto the floor. She just cried and cried. At this moment, the boy John rushed out and shouted at Allen,” He deserves it! He deserves to die! He is an unfeeling brute! He deserves to die!” The boy seemed to have lost his mind. He got the policeman’s arm, hurried towards the study room and changed the position of two books. A secret room! There is a secret room in the study! Allen burst into the room. A bed and various sex toys filled the room! There were many erotic video about minors. Apparently, this room was inhabited and Allen even saw the dress that Mary had worn on the day of Mr. William’s death. “He deserves to die!” John still cried. Allen was angry and said no words. He watched the girl, but he didn’t see anything. “Tell me the truth, Mrs. Williams” “Yes, I KILLED him! I hate him! He ruined my world by hand twice! He knows it, he knows how much I care about family reputation! Five years ago, he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl. I almost lost my mind and saw the psychiatrist. He prayed for my forgiveness and promised never to make such a mistake again. How stupid I was! I didn’t want to lost my family. I trusted him! To prove himself, he even adopted Mary, and I adopted John. Then we moved to Fireberg Town. I tried to build my world again. And I thought everything was fine until John took Mary to me. I can’t deceive myself! I knew it! I knew it! She became more and more silent and crazy. John found it and he began to look at Mr. Williams with hateful eyes. He is a brute! He deserved to die! He ruined my world again! I can’t bear it! I allegedly switched one of his bloodpressure pills for an aspirin, which I knew he was allergic to. Ha-ha…he collided with the table! He deserved to die! And I deserved it! I watched the change of the two children, but I didn’t see the whole crime. I cheated myself everything was ok. Then I saw it, but I didn’t feel it. Nobody could feel it for Mary. My dream was broken, I deserved it...” The truth came out in the wash. Before Allen took away Mrs. Williams, he asked John a question: “The autopsy revealed that there were two impacts on his head. The first blow to his head isn’t what killed him. The second blow is a human blow, from a minor. Do you know it?” “No, I don’t know” John answered nervously. “Are you sure? Maybe I remembered the result wrong. Who knows?” Allen smiled “Yes, who knows. Thank you, Sir.” John started to smile. “Bye-bye.” “Bye.”
