END-OF-COURSE REFLECTION PAPER
GUIDE QUESTIONS
1. What are the main activities that
you engaged in during the course?
ANSWER
Before the class formally started, I was
really nervous because it was my first
time to experience this kind of online
learning modality. But due to the
expertise and friendliness of our FLT Dr.
RUTH L. ESTACIO CESO VI, my
nervousness was turned into excitement.
Our chat session 1 commenced formally
on January 19, 2019, which started at
5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M .
During the chat session, I engrossed
myself in answering the questions posted
by my learning tutor. The chat sessions 2,
3 and 4 took place on
February
9,2019,February
23,
2019and March 2, 2019 respectively.
Chat sessions tackled the two learning
modules, Equipping Teachers with
Knowledge,Skills, Attitude, and Values
for the 21st century in Module 1, and
Module 2 is all about Facilitating 21st
Century Learning.
After our second chat session another
activity posted by our learning tutor in my
assignment, we were required to make
our Personal Lifelong Plan(PLLP) focusing
on the different literacies of a 21st century
teacher. I was given a chance to point out
my weak and strong points, and different
activities to be done in order to improve
the literacies that I assimilate. I also made
a reflection paper about my PLLP and the
experiences I had encountered in
accomplishing and sharing it to our
principal.
In module 2 our learning tutor required
me to make a Professional Development
Plan focusing on mastery towards the
subject matter. I also described each
professional development activity that I
intend to implement for the entire school
year.
We were also required to conduct a
classroom debate to be uploaded in a
YouTube as one of the requirement in
module 2. Prior to the conduct of the
debate. I oriented my students on how to
do the process. I selected grade 7 learners
to comprise the 5 teams. I have invited
our principal and 3 co-teachers to act as
judges and give feedbacks regarding my
facilitating skills and the way my learners
deliver their views about the topic. Based
on the comments I also made an action
plan on how to improve my facilitating
skills by utilizing HIGHER ORDER
THINKING SKILLS (HOTS) to unleash the
critical and creative thinking skills of my
learners.
I made also my Classroom Management
Plan. I emphasized my ideal learning
environment and presented it to our
principal. This activity was coupled with
reflection paper and pictorial.
The last requirement that I made was the
End-of-Course
Action
Plan
that
synthesized the knowledge and skills that
I have gained from the course. I have
chosen activities to pursue. HOTS as
applied in test construction and 21st
century skills orientation seminar to
teacher.
2. How relevant and applicable are
the course contents in helping
enhance your competencies in
pounding school safety and
disaster resilience?
The course contents are responsive to my
needs as teacher relative to 21st century
teaching. It has given me an opportunity
to understand different literacies that
should embody as a teacher that will be
of great help in sustaining my role as
facilitator of learning. The situations
reflected in each learningmodule had
opened my mind to understand the
teaching learning process of the 21st
century.
It is very relevant to me as facilitator of
learning to know different strategies,
techniques, and gained more ideas to
improve my teaching learning styles and
to develop more my attributes, skills,
attitudes and values as teacher. I am glad
that my inclusion in this learning
programhas given me an opportunity to
enhance
my
knowledge
and
st
understanding to become a 21 century
learning facilitator. Upon reading a
module I told myself that I still have
things to be improved. I need to improve
myself as teacher to cope with the needs
of the diverse learners.
Indeed, Guro21 is a great help to improve
my facilitating skills and perspective as
teacher to help me improve my style in
dealing with my learners to motivate them
to be more participative in their
classroom activities.
3. What challenges or difficulties did
you experience during the course?
4. What significance learning
insights did you gain from the
course?
The challenges that I encounter during
our chat sessions was poor internet
connection, I was sometimes lost in my
chatting because of sudden black out in
our area especially during our secondchat
session.
The accomplishments of each tasks was
not easy because I have other activities to
attend to like attending with my classes,
and other unexpected activities that
happened
beyond
control.
Time
management is indeed a big factor to
accomplish all the things required in the
course.
The worst thing that I have encountered
in this program is the submission of class
debate it takes time and patience to
upload it.
I have learned that to be 21st century
teacher I have to be aware with the
different literacies. The 21st century
demands a teacher to be equipped with
facilitating skills. To motivate active
engagement of learners in the class.
Employ teaching styles that would fit to
the learning needs of the learners. And
traditional teaching style is no longer
effective.
Other insights that I have
gained from this course is the integration
of HOTS in the teaching learning process.
Learners should be exposed to HOTS
questions to stimulate their way of
thinking, thus making them creative
anddevelop learners’ critical thinking.
A teacher must be open-minded and
flexible enough to adapt with the changes
that occur.

literacies do you still need to
improve on and why?
6. What can you say about your
overall experiences in the
course(comments on chat, forum,
course requirements, tutor and
online modality)
Among the 21st century literacies
mentioned in module 1, I am weak in
Financial Literacy. I need to seek help
with teachers who are knowledgeable of
this skill because I can’t manage my
money well, I can say that because I have
loans in the bank.
My Guro21 experience has provided me
authentic learning that I can apply in my
teaching profession.
Although I had
encountered a roller coaster ride during
the rigorous months of the course. I must
say that I am fortunate to have given this
chance to be one of the learner in
GURO21 of SEAMEO Innotech. I learned
lot in this course I found it very beneficial
in my part as teacher, it was relevant and
enriched my facilitating skills.
The requirements were designed to
prepare me to handle complex situations
inside the classroom.
As expected the chat session started and
ended on time as scheduled. The 3 hours
session required me to be physically,
emotionally, and mentally awake. It was
facilitated well by our learning tutor Dr.
Ruth L. Estacio. She is a good source of
knowledge and very considerate learning
tutor.
7. What are your other comments
and suggestions?
SEAMEO INNOTECH is a remarkable
organization that aims to improve the
quality of education not only here in the
Philippines but in other countries in
Southeast Asia. The topics in module 1
and 2 are very relevant in to the 21st
century teaching –learning process.
