With little or no idea of where I am heading, I started my undergraduate journey as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering. Six years into the present here I am Taki Uddin, and I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from North South University in 2018. I am currently working as a Junior Android Developer at Asiatic Marketing Communications Limited, a leading digital media agency in Bangladesh. Previously, I worked as a Software Quality Assurance Intern at Skitto, a digital product of Grameenphone of Telenor group - the leading telecommunications service provider in Bangladesh. I intend to write an abstract for my motivation for pursuing a master’s degree. Like I said earlier I didn’t have a clear motivation initially. I started pursuing as a Computer Engineer but in the end, I graduated as a Telecommunications Engineer. I wasn’t strong academically and I finished my four years degree in a span of six years and I believe I have a pretty good explanation for myself, as it wasn’t all in vain. My love for circuits, wireless, control systems and hardware pushed me towards Telecommunications from Computer Science But by the time I was doing my fourth year I stumbled upon an MIT YouTube channel explaining how quadcopters work, I began to dig deeper and by then I found about microcontrollers like Arduino and how it can be programmed to create harmony between software and hardware. I soon indulged myself into robotics and participated on national and international events and winning them. In my fifth year in North South University, I started writing and publishing papers based on the projects and competitions I have participated and extended that work with my professors, namely Dr. Hasan U. Zaman with whom I have published “Design, Control & Performance Analysis of Muktibot” at The 7th IEEE Annual Information Technology, Electronics and Mobile Communication held at The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and Dr. Mohammad Monirujjaman Khan with whom I have published “Design, control & performance analysis of forecast junction IoT and swarm robotics based system for natural disaster monitoring” at 2017 8th International Conference on Computing, Communication and Networking Technologies (ICCCNT). I have also worked as a research assistant with Dr. Lamia Iftekhar working on the hardware implementation of her paper “Urban Search and Rescue Mission: The Use of Marsupial Robots” that was issued in Journal of Modern Science and Technology Vol. 4. No. 1. September 2016 Issue. Pp. 27 – 35. I have contributed as a software developer and as well as an embedded system developer on all the papers. Working primarily on automation of the robots. For my final year project, I worked under Professor Dr. Hasan U. Zaman, who supervised me and my group mates to finish our Final year Capstone Project on “Improved MagLev Train System A different approach to levitation system”. Here we developed a working magnetic levitation train system, showing that it is possible with the available resources present today namely rare earth neodymium magnets to make an improved MagLev capable of carrying the same payload without additional bulk of electromagnets. After my Capstone Project I joined Grameenphone as an intern for their digital product Skitto as previously stated. There I worked with the developers to test and report bugs for the main app, maintaining an agile methodology using JIRA tool. I also prepared test cases for all the new features added to the app. And after my internship I joined Asiatic Marketing Communications Limited as a full-time Junior Android Developer, parallel to my academics at North South University. Apart from project works and competitions, I was an active mentor and instructor for IEEE NSU Student Branch at North South University. I was also an active member of NSU English Club and Founding Treasurer of NSU Communication Club and was involved in different workshops and projects throughout the years of 2015-2017. These experiences helped me gain insights on the practical world. It developed my analytical skills, enhanced my leadership skills and also made me a team player, qualities every engineer should possess. One thing lead to another and here I am driven to pursue my Master's Programme in Electronics Engineering. I have become more driven now than ever before and field experiences and I believe I have a good grasp of how technology can make our life easier. On thorough research I have found few active research areas from the university website, namely on Swarm robotics, Instrumentation and control, smart sensors and robotics, Power electronics, power quality improvements in renewable energy systems. These research themes have always intrigued even during my undergraduate years. I believe that one of the most prestigious engineering departments in Canada with such vast research opportunity will give me a huge advantage. The option of choosing my Master's Programme in Electronics Engineering at Linköping University fascinated me, due to its extensive selections of track that I can follow. I would like to primarily focus my research on robotics. I believe due to my previous experiences with microcontrollers and robots and two published papers, this track best suit me and hence make me an eligible candidate for this programme. I expect to apply my knowledge gained from this programme for the development of my country, as Bangladesh is increasingly working towards significant technological advancements. Therefore, I can assure you of my determination and perseverance to study at Linköping University. I sincerely hope admissions committee will consider my application and help me achieve my dreams of making a difference, to the society and my country. I believe the best dreams come true. It will happen for me too.
