Recognised as one of London’s most skilled airbrush and aerosol artists, Carleen De Sözer was born in a huge city of Birmingham, in England. Carleen De Sozer, in her late 70’s, has dedicated her entire life to art. "I create art, firstly for myself I enjoy tapping into that creative space in my imagination that allows me to turn thought into physical pictures. Sharing my art is a natural part of the creative process, we build on everything that exist...a thought, an idea...a feeling. I believe that my art is a re-creation of every visual and thought that I have received from the creative flow that is LIFE", she says. Her artworks can be found all over the entire capital city of London. Her most famous artworks are “Golden Utopia”, “You Have The Keys”, “Golden Era Hip Hop Raised Me” and “Grime Lords”. Her painting “You have the keys” features a little black girl with big green eyes in heart-shaped golden glasses with a lot of keys in her long curly hair. The girl also has a keyhole in her forehead. There is bright light coming out of that keyhole. On the top right we can see Carleen De Sözer’s signature. We can also observe the clouds in the background. This painting was made in 2017. It was spray painted on a wall in London. The meaning of this painting is imagination. The shining keyhole in the girl’s forehead is her third eye, her potential. The light coming out of it is her imagination and thoughts. The heart-shaped glasses mean that the girl sees the world with love, as kids usually do. It symbolizes the innocence and the purity of childhood. The golden keys in her long curly hair are the keys to her imagination and her thoughts. The colors in this picture also have meanings to them. The main color in this picture is gold. The glasses and the keys are all golden. The color gold is similar to the colors yellow and brown. It is usually associated with love, courage, and wisdom. Gold is also known to be an expensive metal. It represents wealth and glamour. The girl’s shirt in the painting is blue. Blue represents loyalty, wisdom, trust and stability. Her eyes are big and green. This represents growth and freshness. To sum up, I believe that Carleen De Sözer has done a really good job with this painting. Every prop explains the meaning really well. In addition, the colors fit in great, too.
