: September 25, 2020
In view of the recent events that breached the security of virtual classrooms of some
exclusive schools which caused psychological and emotional trauma to the learners, we
would like to assure our parents and guardians that Maranatha Christian Academy of
Imus is taking all necessary online security measures ever since the official opening of
classes.
Our virtual classrooms are protected by a two-level security feature. First, all our Zoom
Subject Channels can only be accessed by official MCA Mail users. Once the learners
are all inside the Subject Channel, the teacher-in-charge, then, locks the virtual
classroom to the exclusion of all others who are not official participants of that said
channel.
However, we wish to reiterate the following measures to ensure our children’s safety:
1. For security reasons, students will only get into the virtual classroom upon the
“Teacher’s Call”. Learners who are late should enter the virtual classroom through
the link posted in the Zoom Subject Channel Chat for the specific day.
2. The learner’s zoom account must reflect his/her real name (ex: Dela Cruz, Juan T.).
Renaming of the Zoom account is not allowed. Learners who will try to enter the
virtual classroom in names other than their real names will not be admitted.
3. Learners should immeditely alert the teacher if there is a change in the number of
official participants or if they notice someone who is new in the virtual classroom.
The School Administrator, the Principal, the Guidance Counsellor and the Prefect of
Discipline have access to all the channels and are roaming around the virtual
classrooms to check and observe the learners every now and then.
4. Pulling different kinds of pranks in the virtual classroom, whether classes are
officially in session or not, against the teacher or to fellow learners, will be dealt with
seriously.
5. The Code of Discipline will be strictly enforced against any learner who will disrupt
the peace and order, breach the security and cause harm to fellow learners inside
the virtual classroom.
6. The Guidance and Counselling Office has formulated programs to help raise
awareness of how our learners can adopt appropriate and responsible behaviors
while navigating the internet.
As our partners in creating a safe space for our learners in the worldwide web, we are
soliciting our parents’ and guardians’ help in reminding our children to exercise due
diligence in all their online activities.
The safety and protection of our learners’ rights and wellbeing are of paramount
importance in this Online Distance Learning. Should you or your child notice suspicious
activities in the virtual classroom, please immediately alert the MCA-ITSS Facebook
Page (m.me/mcaitss) by sending a private message with **EMERGENCY** as the
heading so that our staff will pick it up immediately. For other online security concerns,
