Que 1. Calculate the inductance per phase of the three-phase solid conductor line show in Fig.
Assume that the conductor diameter is 5 cm and the phase separation D, is 8 m. Assume that the line
is transposed.
Que 2. Determine the inductance of a 3-phase line operating at 50 Hz and conductors arranged as
follows. The conductor diameter is 0.8 cm.
Que.3 Determine the inductance of the double circuit line shown in Fig.. The self GMD of the
conductor is 0.0069 metre.
Que 4. The outside diameter of the single layer of aluminium strands of an ACSR Conductor shown
in Fig. is 5.04c m. The diameter of each strand is 1.6g cm. Determine the 50 Hz reactance at 1 m
spacing; neglect the effect of the central strand of steel and advance reasons for the same.
Que 5. Fig. shows a 1000-kv, single-phase, bundle-conductor line with eight subconductors per phase.
The phase spacing is D, = 18 m, and the subconductor spacing is S = 50 cm. Each subconductor has a
diameter of 5 cm. Calculate the line inductance.
Que 6. A conductor consists of seven identical strands each having a radius of r. Determine the factor
by which r should be multiplied to find the self GMD of the conductor.
Que 7. Determine the inductance per km per phase of a single circuit 460 kV line using two bundle
conductors per phase as shown in Fig. The dia of each conductor is 5.0 cm.
Que 8. A three-phase 50 Hz,15 km long line four our No. 4/0 wires (1 cm dia) spaced horizontally 1.5
m apart in a plane. The wires in order are carrying currents Ia Ib and Ic, and the fourth wire, which is
a neutral,
The currents are:
Ia= -30 + 750 A
Ib= -25 + j55 A
Ic= 55 - j105 A
The line is untransposed.
(a) From the fundamental consideration, find the flux linkages of the neutral. Also find the
voltage induced in the neutral wire. (b) Find the voltage drop in each of the three-phase wires.
Que 9. Find the inductive reactance per mile per phase for a single-phase line with phase separation of
25 ft and conductor radius of 0.08 ft.
Que10. Determine the inductance of a 1-phase transmission line consisting of three conductors of 2.5
mm radii in the ‘go’ conductor and two conductors of 5 mm radii in the, return, conductor. The
configuration of the line is as shown in Fig.
Que 11. A conductor is composed of seven identical copper strands, each having a radius r, as shown
in Fig. Find the self GMD of the conductor.
Que 12. A single-phase5 0 Hz power line is supported on a horizontal cross-arm. The spacing
between the conductors is 3 m. A telephone line is supported symmetrically below the power line as
shown in Fig. . Find the mutual inductance between the two circuits and the voltage induced per
kilometre in the telephone line if the current in the power line is 100 A. Assume the telephone Line
current to be zero.
Que 13. Calculate the inductance per phase for the three-phase, double-circuit line whose phase
conductors have a GMR of 0.06 fi, with the horizontal conductor configuration as shown in Figure
Que 14. Determine the inductance per km of a transposed double circuit 3phase line shown in
Fig. Each circuit of the line remains on its own side. The dia of the conductor is 2.532 cm.
Que 15. The arrangement of conductors of a single-phase transmission line is shown in Fig., wherein
the forward circuit is composed of three solid wires 2.5 mm in radius and the return circuit of twowires of radius 5 mm placed symmetrically with respect to the forward circuit. Find the inductance of
each side of the line and that of the complete line.
Que 16. Find the inductive reactance in ohms per kilometer at 50 Hz of a three-phase bundled
conductor line with two conductors per phase as shown in Fig.. All the conductors are ACSR with
radii of 1.725 cm'
