As written on the Bible, Genesis Chapter 1
1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
1:2
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
I am going to mediate on light in the light of the revelation of the Bible.
Light is the first creation of God. It is good and separated from the darkness.
And according to the witness and report of Jesus’ disciple John, “God is light.”
1Jn 1:5
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that
God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
We know that Creator cannot be His own creation. But the attributes of Creator can be
imparted on his creation and be reflected by it.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and
divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so
that men are without excuse.” Romans 1:20
Light provide energy to all lives on the earth. Light is the source of life.
Light is indeed essential to us. Without light, we will die.
Now I want to discuss one of the attributes of light – its capacity to convey message.
Jesus’ disciple John told us that “The Word Became Flesh.” --“In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in
the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that
has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in
the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. ......The Word became flesh and
made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,
who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Jesus said that He is the light of the world and He is the Word. I wonder how is the
Word related to light. In essence, light is energy while word is message.
Through Jesus the Light we see the invisible God and the Word we comprehend the
divine nature of and eternal power of God.
In information and communication technology, with the application optical fiber, light
is used as a medium for transmission of data and information. I wonder if light in
itself contains any message to us. For God is light and He loves the world.
Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your
enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that
you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and
the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:43-45
I think that the natural quality of light marks the symbolic meaning of perfect love of
God to the world.

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.
In light, God shows us His love and His love in language we, for the time being, do
not have the physiological faculty to comprehend. In light, not just the visible light
from the sun, but also all the invisible electromagnetic waves which fill abundantly
the whole universe, God is saying to us. Every photon is dancing and conveying
message like a bee dancing in the flower field.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths,a you are there.

If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to
you.

Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.
God’s thought of us in love are continuously conveying to us like streams of light
from eternity to eternity.
