Preterite Verbs
Preterite means “past tense”
■ Preterite verbs deal with
“completed past action”
■ The ending tells who did the
action.

-AR Preterite Endings
The PRESENT TENSE endings
-o, -as, -a, -amos, -an tell you that the
action takes place in the PRESENT.
■ The PAST TENSE endings -é, -aste,
-ó, -amos, -aron tell you that the
action took place in the PAST.
