It measures a range of abilities including sequential and simultaneous processing, learning, reasoning, and crystallized knowledge to help identify patterns of strengths and weaknesses relevant to educational outcomes. KABC-2 subtests are grouped into 4 or 5 scales, depending on the age of the child being assessed; these scales correspond to processing areas and broad abilities from two theoretical frameworks of cognition. Subtest scores are reported as scaled scores with a mean of 10 and a standard deviation of 3 (Mean = 10, SD = 3). For scaled scores, the Average Range is considered to be between 8 and 12. Scores on scales and global scales are referred to as indexes; these are expressed as standard scores with a mean of 100 and standard deviation of 15 (Mean = 100, SD = 15), with the Average Range corresponding to 90 through 109.
