Candle Project by UFV ENACTUS team goes live By Harpreet Singh ENACTUS that stands for Entrepreneurial Action For Us is a business organization that believes investing in students who take entrepreneurial action for others that creates a better world for the everyone. An organization based in 37 countries and having 72000 student volunteers across the globe, has a branch at UFV too. Our very own UFV team helps in making sustainable products that are sold to generate revenue for nonprofit organizations based in the Lower Mainland region. This year the UFV ENACTUS team has created a candle project. The idea is simple but captivating, making candles and donating profits. The project is being done to support a local organization named Sara for Women that is based in 2825 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford, which provides shelter to women that are being abused by their partners or are subjected to violence. The institution has transition homes based in Abbotsford and Mission where stays are allowed for up to 30 days for women and children. The business project is headed by Harpreet Singh who is a third-year business student in UFV. The group is currently in the Research and Development phase and the candle production is expected to start within two weeks. When asked about the reason to make candles as a product, he said, “A candle signifies the light that guides a woman out of a dark difficult situation and into opportunity and empowerment”.
