How to Write a Dissertation
STEPS
How to write
When you get to the point of writing a dissertation, you 're close to the end
of a significant stage of your educational journey. This paper aims to
highlight your expertise and abilities to perform research in your chosen
discipline and to present the findings in an original piece of content that
will add value to the academic and scientific community.
The term dissertation, however, is also used for the final project presented
by PhD candidates before they achieve their doctorate. If we're talking
about an undergraduate or PhD thesis, it doesn't matter, the assignment
process is very similar while the PhD project is far more serious.
Write a dissertation proposal
As the term itself suggests, this is a proposal for a final dissertation
project, which will persuade the members of the committee that you are
dedicated to important, interesting, and complex issues.
This is a shorter paper than the final dissertation, but it's just as important
because that's the point when you're going to think about an important
question and you're going to set up a plan to assemble information and
write the paper. Even if your university's plan isn't compulsory, you can
always write it down and address the points with your mentor.
Conduct an effective research
The research stage of the dissertation will decide the overall evolution of
your project. As you don't want to waste your time reading and analyzing
irrelevant information, it has to be methodical and accurate. Here are a
few tips that will help you get through.
1.
2.
3.
Make a timeline
Check for sources at the right places

●
Introduction
A background and a statement on the problem should be provided in the first
chapter.
Then you can explain the purpose of the study, as well as the research issue.
Next, you'll need to provide specific descriptions of the project-related terms. You
will also explain your expectations and assumptions about the final results.
●
Literature Review
You will review the research process and the most important
achievements in this chapter of your thesis.
●
Findings
This is the most critical stage in the entire dissertation cycle as the
analytical capacity is demonstrated. At this point, you 're going to
evaluate the research questions and discuss the results you've found,
explain the direction you've been led to. In other words, you 're going
to answer those questions.
●
Conclusions
In the final chapter of the dissertation, the study will be summarized and
the findings will be briefly published. Don't forget that you need to explain
how your findings make a difference in the academic community and how
they are implied in practice.
At the end of this section, include a section called "Recommendations for
future research" in which you will propose future research that will further
clarify the issue. Explain why you are proposing this research and what
form it should take.
●
Bibliography
Use the suggested citation style for your field of study and ensure that all
references used during the research and writing phases are included

Write the first draft
At this point there is no life changing advice to give. Just keep away
from distractions, stick to your timeline, follow the outline and finish the
first draft. You already have what it takes you are ready to do the
actual work now.
Edit and Proofread the Dissertation
Now that you've finalized the paper's first draft, you can relax. Don't even think of
editing a dissertation once you've finished writing the last sentence.
You need to take some time off the project so make sure you leave at least a few
days between the writing and editing phase. You'll be able to notice most of its
flaws when you get back to it.
Finally, it's time to do the final few readings and catch all the errors you've
made in spelling , grammar and style. Learn word by word, sentence by
sentence and if you have any questions, consult a dictionary or thesaurus.
If you find that you're struggling through the stages of editing and
proofreading, you should know you 're not the only one with such problem.
You are too attached to this project, and you're having difficulty seeing the
flaws in it. That's why it's recommended that students use an editing
service that will bring their projects to perfection. This is an intelligent
investment that will save you from embarrassment after all the effort and
stress that you've been through.
