Republic of the Philippines Department of Education Region IV-A CALABARZON GUMACA EAST DISTRICT BANTAD NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL LEARNING CONTINUITY PLAN I. INTRODUCTION Bantad National High School (BNHS) is situated in a remote agricultural barangay which is almost 20 kilometers away from the town proper of Gumaca, Quezon and the farthest secondary school in town. Starting from Brgy. Sisirin, it can be reached approximately within 45 minutes by travelling in a rough road, through a vehicle called “habal-habal”. The school caters secondary education to the youth of its different catchment areas, namely: Brgy. Bantad, the barangay where the school is located, Brgy. San Diego Bukid, Brgy. Villafuerte, Brgy. Gayagayaan, Brgy. Pagsabangan, Brgy. Cawayan and Brgy. Anonangin. Presently, the school has a population of 256: 188 Junior High School and 68 Senior High School students with 183 parents/guardians. The school has nine (12) nationally funded teachers and one (1) non-teaching personnel, nine (9) JHS items and four (4) from SHS. There are 8 classrooms, 6 laboratories and 1 Principal’s Office with 7 comfort rooms. The Learning Continuity Plan will help the school and the community to reach a decision to set the opening of School Year 2020-2021 on August 24, 2020 onwards. It will be used to provide teachers, parents and learners the concrete information what would be the entire picture of the new normal as the government had said. The school will need a Copier Machine for the printing of modules. This can be solicited from LGU-Gumaca through Local Education Fund or provided by PTA from its remaining fund in our previous fund raising campaign. II. SCHOOL LEARNING CONTINUITY PLAN Pursuant to Article XIV section 1(2) of the Philippine Constitution, Learning at home is constitutional. According to Secretary Magtolis-Briones learning platform in different modalities for the opening of the school this coming August 24, 2020 for safety in time of COVID 19 pandemic and to consider social distancing is irresistible. Health, safety and well-being of teachers and learners are the top priority of Department of Education. However, continuity of education must be carried out in the school along the way to attain DepEd mission and vision. There will be a maximum assistance from the community particularly in the distribution and gathering of learning output. Intent Increase the level of participation of stakeholders in the new modalities of learning can be attained through regular communication of parents and teachers on the continuous engagement of persons involve in learning at home. Improve the performance of students in all learning areas in the new platform of learning can be achieved by checking the learning exemplars of teachers that are aligned with MELC. This will be done by the school heads once a week. Strengthen the Home-School Partnership in providing quality education through the implementation of efficient and effective learning strategies in the context of new learning management system through Transparency. Parents should be given updates on learners’ achievement, new guidelines and DepEd policy through text messages or in the form of group chat. Content/Competencies: (MELC, Pre requisite and enabling Competencies) Learning activities will equip all types of learners to gain essential life skills, to know the connection between learning and real life contexts and to give equitable quality learning experiences. Decongested curriculum includes the most essential learning competencies that should be learned by the students at home in the new teaching learning process. Proper monitoring through checking of learning exemplars will be done. The LE should be aligned with the MELC. Learning Experience Upon recommendation by the Schools Division Offices, after consultation with the schools under their respective jurisdictions, the Regional directors shall decide on the learning delivery modalities deemed appropriate in the context of the local conditions( given the local health situation of the communities being served, options of parents/guardians, available resources including manpower, and learners specific needs, and other considerations) and consistent with the COVID-19 guidelines and regulations. Blended Learning activities using modules and other learning materials shall be experiential rather than just informational. It should be connected with real life experiences to the learner in generating authentic feedback and quality learning outputs. Assessment Diagnostic Test will be given on the first day of every quarter following the schedule for blended learning. Formative test will be given to the learners daily but it is not graded. Remedial teaching will be suggested whenever the learner will be failed in each examination one (1) week after the result was validated. Quarterly Examination will be on the following scheduled dates: First Quarter Examination will be on October 15-16, 2020, Second Quarter Examination will be on December 10-11, 2020, Third Quarter Examination will be on February 24 & 26, 2020 and Fourth Quarter Examination will be on April 15-16, 2020. PRE-IMPLEMENTATION PHASE The Learners Enrolment and Survey Form will be used by the school to gather information on what type of learning modalities the parents want for their children. The school will validate the result and it will help the School Head to know the perspective of parents in the new system of teaching and learning process. They will prepare schedule of activities for blended learning. There will be an instruction and rules of engagement for parent/guardian for blended learning. Based on the survey and capacity of the school, blended learning constitutes the greater votes. Although, the school do not have an internet connection, the teacher can provide a group chat and ready -made modules for the learners who do not have enough load and internet connection for their mobile phone. However, the school need financial assistance for the printed modules that should be given to the learners weekly. After the brief discussion with the parents on the changes, the School Head will discuss the schedule for the distribution of modules every Monday and to be submitted every Wednesday. Any queries from the parent or the learner will send through chat or text. IMPLEMENTATION PHASE The school head will lead and provide guidance in developing modules with the participation of subject teachers to help the parents in conducting learning at home with their children. Information dissemination will be done through virtual announcement and signage because Parents should actively participate in the learning process. The school will explore institutional partnership with the community and PTA members. Teachers will produce modules and worksheet to can be used by the students with the guidance of their parents at home. All learning materials design and send home a program of activities. Homeschool Partnership will be strengthening through parent information dissemination by sending home the outline of work activities at the beginning of each week. Teachers will use blended learning strategy and home delivery approach as the school chosen learning management and monitoring system. Calendar of activities will be posted on the school website and facebook page. Teacher will send a weekly localized modular learning material to all parents and ask their contact details for questions/feedback. III. MANAGEMENT AND DAILY OPERATION The School head will ensure that the most essential learning competencies will be followed by checking the lesson plan of the teachers. There will be supervisory records that include the Learning Plan of the subject teachers with the allotted time budget. The module and the activity sheet for each subject have their own format including the feedback from the learners and their parents for the improvement of instructional materials. There will be a distribution and collection of IM’s twice a week. Every Monday, Modules will be distributed to the parents or the learners in a group. This will be submitted on Wednesday. Another Group will get their modules every Tuesday to be submitted on Thursday. The module will be prepared in weekly basis for 8 learning areas. Video presentation can be sent to those learners with smart phone to be shared by each group with 4 members nearby their residence. Questions will be given prior to the presentation because the teacher wanted to give ideas on what will be in the presentation. Students should be group according to their residence. There will be a parent leader also student leader for proper channelling of information. Health, safety and well-being of teachers and learners are ensured, guided by health protocol and social distancing. IV. CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION The Most Essential Learning Competencies are those topic objectives from each subjects that focuses on the most important topic to be learned by the learners. The curriculum was decongested among those essential skills that should be attained by the learners even at home. The subject teachers will provide Learning Module in the given schedule online screen time or print modules for each subject by grade level that will be distributed and collected following the schedule. Parents should ensure that they will make themselves available and responsible to supervise the learning at home with their children. The school will ensure that the needed learning materials are available for the given period of time as scheduled. There will be a community partnership for support and coordination in the blended learning modality. Teachers will produce modules or video-taped lessons aligned with the MELCs. They will maximize Learning Resources Portals, Modules, Video-taped lessons, radio scripts and DepEd Commons. Mobile teachers will be tapped whenever possible. Physical distancing measure will be observed by reducing the class size by 15-20 learners. There will be a double session (am-pm). Three day in school/off school week. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in school led by the teacher while Thursday, Friday, Saturday led by the parents. There will be a 30 minute contact of teachers with the students if possible, if not, the parentleader will get the module from the teacher. The teacher will prepare a weekly module with simple instruction. The school head will supervise whether the LE will be prepared prior to the distribution and this should be guided by the Budget of Works from first to fourth quarter. There will be Computation of Grades for blended learning. Quarterly Test and Written works will be graded. Recording will follow the guidelines for assessment with given indicators/rubric and reporting will be done one week after the quarterly Examination. Instructional supervision will be done once a month through LAC Session. V. MONITORING AND EVALUATION Teachers will monitor the target learning competency of the students through a class followup for at least once a week or the prepared module will include pre-assessment that will serve as review of the past lesson. They will continue using blended learning strategy and home delivery approach as their teaching management system. The School Head together with the subject teachers will do a regular checking on students’ output as part of the monitoring and evaluation purposes. Any queries will be sent to the group chat of each class that will be given actions by the person concerned. Giving feedbacks are highly recommended for the improvement of the student’s learning process and performance (mostly written in forms). All students will be given quality learning experiences in the context of new modalities of learning, providing them quality education and life skills that can be used not only for the benefits for themselves but also for the betterment of our society and beyond.
