Setup procedures for successful VoD results Shot preparation Confirm which type of VoD unit is to be used Maximum Cable length ShotTrack VoD III – 610 metres ShotTrack VoD Mini – 305 metres Calibrate unit for cable factor Using the cable reel/reels that will be used on the shot if possible. Otherwise same type of cable from the same manufacturer. Note RG59 mini cable can vary from one reel to another so if using this particular reel for the first time it will need to be calibrated Find out before the shot How many holes are to be measured How deep the holes are Front row spacing Escalon spacing Height of primer Depth of stemming Shot Order Which holes are to be measured Order of firing This is critical for successful measurement of all the holes required. Insure that the order is not changed before the shot. Before product and primers are loaded Load cable in holes - first fired is end of cable, next fired next loaded etc… to last fired The end of the cable must have an initial cut-off of a minimum ½ metre. The end of the cable should of be looped by at least ½ metre, taped then lowered down the first fired hole. Half a brick can make a good weight Make a loop in the cable of at least 2 meters between holes Document cable length During the process of laying the cable document the length of cable Exiting the first hole Entering and exiting the second hole Entering and exiting the third hole Etc… Note, there are length marks on most modern cable. This procedure enables you to troubleshoot the shot if there is a problem When product is loaded Ask whoever is on site when the product is loaded to hold cable tight If possible reconnect unit and check cable length Ensure that hole is bottom primed. If a top safety primer is to be used then ensure that the bottom primer is fired first with a delay to the top primer long enough to allow for complete detonation of the column. Before the shot Fully charge the VoD unit Check battery voltage Check unit is functioning correctly If possible connect a test cable and check length Check battery condition On VoD III Unit check date and time Make sure unit is switched off Just before shot is completed Connect cable to unit Turn unit on Check cable length
