Synthesis Essay
A synthesis essay is not a summary of the text. Specifically, a synthesis essay
attempts to prove a universal truth about life, people, or relationships by illustrating
that truth with illustrations from more than one literary source. When you
synthesize sources you refer to them to develop your position and cite them
accurately. Your argument should be central; the sources should support this
argument. Avoid merely summarizing sources.
For your thesis, use the thematic topic of :The American Dream. A thesis should be
something you are trying to prove; it is your argument.
