Grades will be assigned on a standard scale: 91-100=A, 81-90=B, 71-80=C, 61-70=D, <61=F. Abs and BCs fit in between. We will be using a Canvas site to post grades and turn in some assignments. You should use your UWL email address for all communications, or change it in the Canvas system Access for All Students: Any student with a documented disability (e.g., physical, learning, psychiatric, vision, or hearing, etc.) who needs to arrange reasonable accommodations must contact the instructor and the Disability Resource Services Office (165 Murphy Library) at the beginning of the semester. I am happy to make reasonable accommodations for students with special needs in both lecture and lab. You can find out more about services available at The ACCESS Center website: http://www.uwlax.edu/access-center. UWL’s obligations to students: https://www.uwlax.edu/info/syllabus/ First Internet Assignment: (10 pts. Due 11:59 PM Mon. Feb. 10) Please visit Tom Volk's Fungi web page at http://TomVolkFungi.net. Look around and see what you can find! There are many pictures and descriptions of the fungi we'll be talking about in lecture. For your assignment, determine two "Fungus of the Month" pages for YOUR birthday month. One of them should be your actual birth year, if possible. In all cases you will have 12 or 13 choices for that month, since I started the Fungus of the Month in January of 1997. Then after reading about two fungi of the month for your birthday month, go to the Dropbox on D2L The body of what you put in the Dropbox should be: 1. Your name 2. Month of your birthday 3. Fungus of the month for your birthday month (pick one) 4. What is the food source for the fungus? Is the fungus a saprophyte, parasite, or mutualist? 5. To which phylum does that fungus belong? 6. Write a few sentences in your own words about why that fungus is interesting. Repeat #3-6 for the second fungus. Please number your answers.
