Syllabus for Ms. Saathoff’s Online Classroom
Art 1
Office Hours
● My office hours will be held twice per week on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 AM-11 AM or by
appointment within the hours of 9 am-3 pm. Students can request office hours via email or Aeries
communication direct message system.
Classwork
You will be expected to complete assignments that will be uploaded digitally to Google
Classroom. You will receive feedback on your work through google classroom on the
uploaded assignment. The Art 1 will be given specific drawing assignments and will be
viewing art demos online.
Three exercise pencil sketches are for practice and due each Thursday. Then the class will have one
project due every two weeks as usual. The projects need to be a finished, nice,complete drawing not drawing you have done the day before. Meaning you have put some time and effort into them. I
will give you a progress grade each week on Project ArtAWork.
Art History will be a short Lesson followed by questions or summary. Then for some projects we will
begin creating some art based on the Art historical styles. You will need for the three weekly drawing
sketches either printer paper or newsprint I put into your portfolio or you may use a sketchbook, no.
2 pencils, and colored pencils,scissors and glue. Save magazines /.newspapers for collages
Art History will begin the second week of online school studies. Which will be coming in the
form of youtube videos. Followed by answering questions and writing short summaries.
Daily/ weekly Participation Grade- This grade is taken from the three practice sketches you
draw every week. These are important art exercises that improve your drawing skills over time.
It is best to do sketching exercises three separate days and submit them all each Thursday.
Rubrics will depend on the specific drawing assignment of that week.- These are Worth 50%.Daily Work Grade.
Projects are worth 40% - Will be graded every week for a progress grade and this is a more
involved intense finished drawing fulfilling specific directions in what is needed to be seen in the
drawing. These are due every two weeks
The Quiz is worth 10%. - This will be given every Friday over art history/and or techniques
and terms introduced in your class.
