Japanese Cross
1. Draw the cross shape (note the angled ends).
2. Draw the body (note the small head; arms up in a shallow Y shape).
3. Don’t let the tip of the arms be too close to the edge of the cross.
4. Cut out the figure. Be careful, this is the trickiest part!
5. Colour the cross with a wood grain pattern - browns, gold and blacks – all going in
one direction - use a mixture of felts and pencils to get the effect
6. Use a piece of blue, green or yellow paper as a mount for your cross OR paint a
background blending different colour mixes of blue, green and yellow.
7. Once the cross and background are ready, carefully stick the cross in the centre of
your background.
