Your name________________________ Your partner’s name(s) ________________________ Earth Week Project Proposal: Part I During Earth Week, Viewpoint students would benefit greatly from your leadership and expertise regarding environmental issues. You are going to generate a plan to educate/inform/generate interest/get students to care about some environmental topic. You can draw on information from class, the book, documentaries we’ve watched (Gasland; Tapped; Mulholland’s Dream, Empty Oceans, Empty Nets), or topics you have become aware of through article reviews, labs, etc.. You can also draw on our field trip to Malibu Lagoon and the one we’re about to take to Hyperion. First, think of topics you feel are most important for your fellow-students to understand. List 6 APES topics that you are interested in and/or feel the students at Marlborough have a limited understanding of below: 1._____________________________ 2._____________________________ 3._____________________________ 4._____________________________ 5._____________________________ 6._____________________________ Narrow these down to two topics you would most (BOTH partners) like to work on. Put a start next two these two in your list above. Spend time (approximately 5 minutes) looking into and discussing which of these topics you will ultimately pursue. Name it here: _____________________________ Write up your proposal on another sheet. Explain what materials you need, what you will say to/do with/show to/etc. students who visit your display/kiosk/table, poster, etc. You must include: ● Topic (2 pts) ● Educational goal - what do you hope students will learn from you? (2 pts) ● What habits (if any) do you want them to change? (2 pts) ● Hands-on/interactive component (2 pts) ● List of materials (2 pts) ● Describe the experience for someone walking up to your station. It is likely that you will be asked to bring your proposal to life during Earth Week. Therefore, make your plan clear, realistic and provide clear goals.
