Water covers three quarters of the earth (75%), but fresh water is in much limited supply (2.5%). Water is considered as a renewable resource because it is recycled in the Water Cycle as shown below. However, pollution reduces the quality of water that we can use in our everyday lives. We need clean water for our everyday activities. The table below shows some of the ways that water is used in our homes and the amount used. We use water to drink, wash our food, have a shower, flush the toilet, wash our hands, water the garden, clean cars, prepare food, and wash our clothes. 140 L is used in the toilet, 180 L is used in the bathroom, 110 L is used in the laundry, 55 L is used in the kitchen, and 340 L is used outdoors.
