Health & Safety
Facility is clean, sanitary, and free of hazards, including window blind cords.
Home has adequate & functioning heating sources
Home has adequate & functioning light fixtures.
Home has adequate & functioning ventilation.
Premises are free from pests.
Pets and animals are safe and cared for in a sanitary manner.
Alcoholic beverages and marijuana are inaccessible. Smoking is prohibited in all
living spaces and in car with children.
Toxic materials are out of reach of children and separated from food items.
Electrical outlets are tamper proof if needed.
Proper child- safety measures if needed. Check for stairs, balcony, outlets,
cabinets etc.
Water temperature does not exceed 120 degrees.
Proper laundry, sewage and garbage facilities.
Access to working telephone all times when children are present in home.
Poison control number posted near telephone.
Guns and ammunition are inaccessible to children and must be kept in locked
containers with guns and ammunition locked separately, unless stored in a
locked gun safe.
Pools & hot tubs are locked when not in use.
All rooms and outbuilding are inspected.
FIRE SAFETY & Medical care
Family has created and posted a fire escape plan.
Plan must include; escape from the upper floor on multi- level homes, bedroom
windows that are large enough for emergency rescue, easy access to all rooms.
Smoke detectors are in good condition in each room of the home.
Home has at least one working fire extinguisher.
Home has working carbon monoxide detectors.
BEDROOM
Room has adequate privacy and floor space for safety and comfort.
Bedrooms must have unrestricted direct access to outdoors, as well as direct
access to common areas.
Child must have an appropriately sized separate bed, with clean bedding, and a
mattress in good condition.
Crib must have no more than 2 3/8 inches between slats.
Loose blankets, crib bumpers stuffed toys, pillows, not placed in crib with
infants.
