Pick up to 5 areas of interest (3 minimum). Take some time and think about your
interests/passions/questions in your field of study. Ask yourself these questions:
1. What have I always wondered about in the field that I do not know much about now?
2. What can I learn that will help me in the future? To what questions can I seek answers to in my
chosen field of study?
3. Along with my lab, can I connect a personal story to a Capstone Project topic?
4. Is there something that can help serve the community with my topic?

Using INFOhio (www.infohio.org/) first, and then a favorite search engine, you can search for your topic
to determine how much information is available. This process may also help to narrow or focus your ideas
to help you better plan your project.
Spend a little time on each topic doing some brainstorming/research (Internet). Narrow it down to two
topics and your CTE Instructor will discuss your ideas with you so that you can decide on a final topic. Ask
yourself these questions when trying to decide on your FINAL topic and be prepared to give your instructor
reasons for your final selection.
1. How much information is realistically available on my topic? Will the information be factual?
2. Is it appropriate and meet the criteria within the guidelines of the project’s requirements?
3. Can I find the answers to any questions or opinions I may have about the topic? (based on my
research/findings)
4. Can I contact a professional in the area that I’ve chosen?
5. What will be my anchor experience/product?
