Know the opportunities for work-based experience in sport Assessment and grading criteria P1 describe four realistic opportunities for appropriate work-based experience in sport M1 explain four realistic opportunities for appropriate work-based experience in sport D1 evaluate the opportunities for appropriate work-based experience in sport Scenario: Sport is currently the biggest growth sector in the world of industry. Your school has asked you to design a pamphlet for their careers office which will provide students with information as to where they might want to go for a sport-based work experience placement. TASK 1: Learner outcomes Produce a pamphlet that clearly outlines 4 opportunities for REALISTIC work based experience in sport ie work experience in a gym, working experience at a leisure centre, work experience at a coaching company etc. (Ticket tout or working in a fashion sports store would not be appropriate). Might these hinder how involved you are able to be for example? Work environment (office, clinic, hospital, laboratory?) - How might this impact your work experience? Continuing on from M1 D1 Evaluate the opportunities for appropriate work-based experience in sport Consider the following: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Location - consider the location in relation to your school (as most students live in this area). Consider the time spent travelling each day. Transport costs - is it feasible for you to get there each day? Skills - what skills do you need to possess, what skills might you gain? How might this help in the future? Personal qualities -what personal qualities are needed? Is there an area that this work experience might enhance? Who you will be working with - is this suited to people who prefer to work individually, in small teams or larger teams? Working hours - roster, shifts, regular hours etc? How might this fit in with someone's schedule and other commitments? Legal issues - does confidentiality mean that it would be hard to get a placement? At what level could someone be involved?
