Mitosis Stop-Motion Project In this project you will show your understanding of the events of Mitosis though a stop-motion video. Due Date: __________________________ Partner: ____________________________ 1. Download one of these Apps to create your video: Apple Onion Cam2 Stop Motion Studio Android PicPac Stop Motion Studio 2. Set up your phone and size the paper cell and play-doh cell organelles to fit within the frame. Measure them! 3. Create with Play-Doh: a. Nuclear membrane b. Chromatin c. Chromosomes (3) d. Centromeres e. Spindle Fibers and Centrioles Create with paper: f. Cell g. Cut out page 2 for titles and events of each stage 4. Make your video, add in titles of each stage and events. (p.2) 5. When completed, upload your video to FlipGrid. FlipGrid Code___________________ *make sure both partner’s first and last names are included on the video. Mitosis Stop-Motion Project Your video will show each of the following labeled events in order: Events Titles Prophase 1. DNA coils up from Chromatin to Chromosomes 2. The nuclear envelope (membrane) breaks down 3. Spindle fibers form at each pole Metaphase 4. Spindle fibers attach to Centromeres 5. Chromosomes align along the metaphase plate (center) Anaphase 6. Chromosomes are pulled away by spindle fibers to opposite poles. Telophase 7. Chromosomes reach poles, the nuclear membrane reforms, and chromosomes unwind into chromatin Cytokinesis 8. Division of the cytoplasm and cell membrane, two new genetically identical daughter cells are formed
