Government Integrated Radio Network (GIRN) Introduction The Government Integrated Trunk Radio Network or Government Integrated Radio Network (GIRN) is a national level strategic project. The National Security Council (NSC) and the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM), have been the coordinating agencies since it started operations in December 2009. Objective GIRN, enables more efficient communication between personnel stationed at the operation / event site and those at the central control room via its Line Dispatcher system Impact 1. Sharing of infrastructure creates “economies of scales” resulting in nationwide coverage. 2. Digital Technology gives rise to a more sophisticated and integrated Voice and Data Service. 3. Standardizing the use of technology to raise the level of Interoperability without compromising autonomy. 4. More order and control during emergency operations. 5. Facilitates preparation, supply, operations and maintenance of the tetra radio-based communications system to be used by the 17 government agencies provided by NSC. 6. Every agency has autonomy over the use of its own radio. 7. Facilitates communication between agencies especially in operations involving various agencies.
