Group Members: Mitosis Movie Lab Using the iPad App Miniatures , your lab group will create a time-lapse short film modeling mitosis. Using props and your creativity, you will show the different phases of mitosis a cell goes through when dividing. The movie recording will be silent, so there is no narration and any phases must be labeled. Be sure you have a screenplay and a well rehearsed cast ready before we start shooting; because of time constraints we will have to try to get the whole thing wrapped in one take. Checklist of things to be included in your film (feel free to include anything else you feel is relevant!!!): Title “Mitosis” (subtitles may vary based on your creative inspiration) Names of group members (first names are enough) Cell outline (plant or animal; pick one and stick with it through cytokinesis) At least 3 duplicated chromosomes Label “Prophase” Label “Metaphase” Label “Anaphase” Label “Telophase” Centrioles Spindle fibers Cleavage furrow or cell plate Two daughter cells Take a look at the attached rubric, this is how your movie will be scored at the film festival (aka gradebook). Attached is a page you can use to plan your scenes. We suggest you draw what you want the camera to “see” and take notes on what your cast is supposed to do, which props are needed and so on. Have fun with this! Lights, camera, action! Grading rubric (20pts) What we’re looking for required cell parts labels sequence of events logic and accuracy (this is worth 2x the points) 0 pts 1 pt 2 pts 3 pts 4 pts less than 3 of the parts are present more than 4 of the required labels are missing or incomplete 2 or more phases of mitosis are out of order there are 4 or more mistakes of logical flaws in the depiction of mitotic events 3 of the required parts are present 4 of the required labels are missing or incomplete 4 of the required parts are present 3 of the required labels are missing or incomplete 5 of the required parts are present 1 or 2 of the required labels are missing or incomplete all of the 6 required parts are present the movie title, group names, and the 4 phases are clearly labeled all phases of mitosis are in correct order there is 1 mistake or logical flaw in the depiction of mitotic events mitotic events are shown accurately, with logical chromosome arrangements 1 phase of mitosis is out of order there are 3 mistakes or logical flaws in the depiction of mitotic events there are 2 mistakes or logical flaws in the depiction of mitotic events
