This event is the first violent event of the French Revolution and most likely won’t be the last. Yesterday French citizens raided the Bastille. They killed the guards and took gunpowder. After this they destroyed the Bastille. The reason for this attack was the rumors of King Louis XVI sending royal troops to occupy all of France. The people feared for their lives so they decided to take arms. The only thing they were missing was gunpowder, and the new exactly where to get it. The commander of the Bastille decided to ask if he surrendered the Bastille that he and his soldiers could leave. The people replied “No surrender! Lower the bridge!” He lowered the bridge and the people raided the Bastille.
