Wash your hands before unwrapping the filter
Flush filter with cold water for 15 seconds
Insert filter into reservoir
Add cold tap water. Discard your first 3 pitchers of filter water, or use this water for
plants. It is normal for carbon dust to appear in your first fillings

Water Leak with "Advanced" Filters
Filtered water should come down from the four holes at the bottom
of the filter. However, water leaks and come down along the inner
surface of the tube. The older model fitted my pitcher, but the new
"advanced" filters do not. I did not realize until I replaced the 3rd one
from the pack. I had just thought that the new model filters water
faster than the older model (which needs soaking before use); My
family drank unfiltered water for 4 months. The filter does not
completely fit the tube even though it looks it fits.

Brita Replacement Filters - 10-pack
I have been using Brita pitcher for years. It works fine with the old
style filter. Today, I tried to use this new 'advanced' filter that claims
to fit into all pitchers. Well, it fits, with a catch -- WATER LEAKS OUT
FROM THE CYLINDER, NOT FROM THE FILTER. It leaks even faster
than the filter. That makes the filtering process useless. I will give it to
0 star if I could!

Better than earlier versions
This filter is much better designed than the original filter. For one, as
you pour tap water over it, the filtration process takes place faster.
No backed up water slowly dribbling through the filter. Secondly, you
don't have to dump out all the charcoal water as they used to
recommend. I never did that anyway, because I couldn't taste the
charcoal, and it doesn't to harm if you do drink it. Just make sure
you seat the filter properly per the instructions, as I read some
people don't think water goes through the filter, but leaks on the
side. I think it's improper seating of the filter that's the problem.

Doesn't last long
We have been using Brita for a long time. However, in our recent
purchase of these filters, they don't seem to last as long as the older
filters. For the first week, the water filter is fast. After a week of use,
the filter is very slow. I just replaced my filter 2 weeks ago and now,
it's barely filtering water. I'm going to have to return the new box we
bought. This is good for Brita. Customers are having to buy filters
more often than before. Not good for consumers. I may have to try
PUR.

Great!
Been buying these for awhile now, and I would ask the person who
had a bad fit to double-check how the filter is being inserted. There
is a deeper groove and a shallower groove and if you put it wrong
and/or don't push it down firmly it won't seat all the way and then
the water can get past the filter. /// You might find the filters cheaper
elsewhere online but if you don't want to work that hard, this is a
great price.

I Love the New Filter Design!
Just wanted to Respond to the one star reviews that say water leaks
around the side in Older Pitchers. If you line up the filter properly
with the longer grove in the correct position, these DO NOT leak. I
have used them in my Older Pitcher with no leaks at all. Love the
new design and that they don't have to be pre-soaked before use.
