Picture this – a kind of Manifesto of the passing of life of the Creator, but it leaves this world not broken a serious illness and repression of a totalitarian government, but on the contrary, with head held high to the end defending their natural right to freedom of creativity. • The enduring power of the spirit expressed in the selfportrait through the proud head carriage, powerfully written and face filled with solemn seriousness look, which are read unspoken words. Venetian costume, which depicted the artist, is a reference to both Renaissance and reformation period, thus emphasizing innovative, revolutionary nature of Malevich's art. • Notable for the artist's gesture in the painting: most critics agree that the hand is holding an imaginary Malevich "black square", symbolizing the hope for understanding of his work by future generations. Miniature black square placed in the lower right corner of the picture – where usually put the author's signature. This artist emphasizes faith in his own creative right.
