Each project should demonstrate your understanding of how energy is transformed from one form to another. Transformation Foldable – Create a foldable using these vocabulary words. Mechanical PE and KE, chemical, thermal, radiant, electrical, nuclear, sound. Be sure to include how they can transform form one form to another form. Legos - Use your old Legos to construct a circuit board to show how energy can be transformed from chemical or solar energy to mechanical, sound, or radiant energy. Rube Goldberg - Construct a Rube Goldberg machine to demonstrate at least 5 different energy transformations. Drawing Energy Transformation Machine - Make a drawing of a machine that performs a task (ex. delivers candy to your mouth). The drawing must include at least 4 types of energy. Include in your drawing a step by step explanation of how energy changed from one form to another. Scavenger Hunt - Create a scavenger hunt for your class room. Each location should be a point in the room where energy is being transformed. Create your clues by describing each location in terms of energy transformation. Such as: go to the spot where electric energy is being turned into sound energy. Be very specific because many locations may have the same type of transformation. Solar Oven - Build a solar oven and cook something. Take pictures as you construct the oven and cook with it. Write up an explanation of how it was built and what the energy transformations were. Present pictures and explanation to class. Sound Experiment – Create an experiment which develops a source of sound. Write up the steps of your experiment explaining how you created sound. Describe the energy transfers that occurred during your experiment. Heat Demonstration - – Create an experiment which develops a source of heat. Write up the steps of your experiment explaining how you created heat. Describe the energy transfers that occurred during your experiment. Student Choice - Be creative and come up with a one of a kind project that shows your knowledge of energy types and transformations. Be sure to get your teachers permission before starting your project.
