CPSC 321 – Written Paper Guidelines













Page count will be specified in the assignment.
Papers should be double spaced (per the syllabus).
While your name should be on the paper, please do not include a cover page.
One inch margins (all sides).
10 or 12 point font (Tacoma or New Times Roman font styles)
No pictures
A bibliography is required for all papers; the bibliography not count toward the page count.
Bibliography should have a minimum of five (5) references. Strongly prefer 8-10 references; 20
or more references is likely overkill. Note that the bibliography is not counted in the page
count. So an X page paper plus a one page bibliography is still an X page paper.
Use IEEE style for citations and bibliography [these can be automatically generated with MS
Word]
Material cited from a given source should not exceed two sentences. The text should be
italicized if taken directly from the source.
Your name must be on the paper itself. The first page should have: name, date, class ID (CPSC
321) assignment identifier, and title. This information should take up a maximum of 3 lines. You
will lose points if it takes up an excessive amount of space
Pages should be numbered in footer; last name may be placed in footer as well.
Reviewed papers will have comments inserted. To facilitate this, submit using Microsoft Word
files only (*.docx extension). You will lose points if you submit PDF files or any other format.
