Step 5 – Write the Paragraph
Texture in music refers to the number of layers of sound and how
dense the layers are in the piece. In the song “Friday on my Mind”
by The Easybeats, Texture is used in a typical rock music style. In
this song, the overall texture changes from very sparse to a more
dense sound. The instruments that are heard in the first section
include the male lead vocals and the electric guitars. In the second
section more instruments are added with the drums, backing
vocals and bass guitar being heard. Texture in music is important
because the addition and subtraction of layers of sounds gives the
music variety and contrast.
